What’s the Big Idea?
Imagine a group where people in South-East Birmingham share electricity! That’s what SEBrum wants to do. They’ll help people with solar panels sell their extra power to neighbours, and help those who struggle to pay their energy bills.
Who’s Involved?
- Big Roofs: Places like schools and businesses with lots of solar panels.
- Home Roofs: Regular houses with solar panels.
- People in Need: Homes that have a hard time paying for electricity.
How Does It Work?
- People who make extra electricity (like from solar panels) can sell it to others in the group.
- This helps everyone get cheaper, greener energy.
- SEBrum is working with 100Green, an energy company, to make this happen.
- The group will be run by a board of directors, with members from the community.
Why Is This Cool?
- It helps people save money on electricity.
- It uses clean, renewable energy.
- It’s a way for the community to work together!
What’s Next?
- They need to get official approval.
- Then, they can start signing up members!
In simple terms:
SEBrum wants to create a community energy club where people share their solar power and help each other save money. It’s like a neighbourhood sharing system for electricity!
On the upcoming meeting organised by the Community Energy England in Nottingham we shall be talking about challenges and small steps towards achieving our energy coop.
