Electrify Britain visit to Birmingham Thursday 27th February

At Fox Hollies Forum community building serving Acocks Green and Tyseley. Meeting with Nigel Lloyd (Acocks Greener), Kynton Swingle (Fox Hollies Forum), Patricia Jones (Hazelwood Flats), Kamran Ahmad (Ashiana Community Project) and Sheila Baldock (Householder) all residents of Acocks Green and Tyseley. There were presentations about Fox Hollies Community Association and Acocks Greener, then all shared their experience of retrofitting their homes, the government grants to do so, the benefits and issues.

Acocks Greener:

  • Enabled Fox Hollies and 220 homes to obtain LAD3 (Local Area Development) retrofit funding worth about £2M,
  • and together they are creating South-East Birmingham Energy Local Co-op.
  • providing local retrofit advice under BrumEnergy project,
  • working with Tyseley Energy Park and Birmingham City Council on community engagement around Tyseley Green Energy Innovation Quarter (£100 million industrial investment expected).
